Why?

We think although JFK needed to be slightly more eloquent than we are he could have shortened that to “because we can” but the message is basically the same. This is not a holiday and is definitely not going to be easy but that is the whole point. As we were warned when we signed up “people who have partaken in the Mongol Rally in the past have been severely injured, paralysed or have even lost their life.  So please take this warning seriously”.

We want a challenge and we also want to raise money for some worthy causes (obligatory link http://www.justgiving.com/5camels1chameleon) so this is a great way to do both as well as being able to visit some of least touristy countries on Earth and really get a first hand feel of how far 10,000 miles is. To put that distance into some perspective the distance between London and Sydney is 10,500 miles.

If that’s not reason enough then we don’t really know how else to convince you but have a watch of the slightly glossed video (they allegedly cut out Felix getting kidnapped by bandits in Kyrgyzstan) from the Rally last year and see for yourself what we have in store:

And, of course, we want to see camels
